Taking over the historic former slaughterhouse district, this vibrant weekend block party (June 13–14) blends a diverse, live music lineup across three outdoor stages with exceptional street food. Hanasaari Opening Celebration

For the first time ever on Helsinki Day (June 12), the gates to the iconic, previously closed Hanasaari industrial power plant area are being thrown open to the public. The celebratory launch features guided power plant tours (starting at 10:00), mayoral greetings, food trucks, open-air dancing, live music from Grande Mahogany, and even sauna shifts in the old staff quarters.

Helsinki Day at Kanneltalo Dance Carnival

If you want to experience the birthday festivities outside the downtown core, head north to the suburban cultural hub of Kanneltalo. Helsinki Day at the Espa Stage

The historic Esplanadi Park stage acts as the acoustic beating heart of downtown on June 12. Expect a non-stop marathon of free live music performances, orchestral acts, and cultural presentations right in the middle of Helsinki's most famous promenade. Kicking off on June 11 and running all the way through July 19, the lawn right in front of the Helsinki Music Centre (Musiikkitalo) turns into Finland's premier FIFA World Cup hub. Capable of hosting 5,000 fans at a time, the zone features massive LED screens showing live matches, a massive outdoor terrace, live concert programming (including Tuure Boelius and Hassan Maikal), open-air karaoke, and film screenings. Best of all, entry is completely free.
